Marcel Dzama is best known for his drawings featuring inventive narrative scenes with anthropomorphized animals and objects depicted in a muted color palette . This piece is done in gouache and ink. The content, as with many of his other pieces, is whimsical, fantastical and surreal.

Angel Ortiz is often referred to by his graffiti tag “LA2” or “LAROC,” monikers found both in the painting and around the frame, which Ortiz crafter for the piece. Ortiz is the protege of well-known graffiti artist Keith Haring, and he is from the Lower East Side of New York. He is known for his thick, intermingling contours, which pay homage to ancient Eastern calligraphy. This dizzying work features these meandering contours and calligraphy in silver, while the frame is covered by his tag in gold all on a dark brown background.
