Angel Ortiz is often referred to by his graffiti tag “LA2” or “LAROC,” monikers found both in the painting and around the frame, which Ortiz crafter for the piece. Ortiz is the protege of well-known graffiti artist Keith Haring, and he is from the Lower East Side of New York. He is known for his thick, intermingling contours, which pay homage to ancient Eastern calligraphy. This dizzying work features these meandering contours and calligraphy in silver, while the frame is covered by his tag in gold all on a dark brown background.
