Playful Three Figure Vessel
Produced by the Bohemian ceramic manufacturer Amphora, this vessel is typical of the Art Nouveau work produced in the region at the turn of the century. It incorporates undulating, asymmetrica motifs derived from the natural world--fanciful configurations of flora and fauna. This unique pastel amphora depicts two young ladies and one young man suspended among flowers. The figures peer into the vessel. The base of this vessel is identified with an “Amphora” mark and the Austrian crown.
