Title: Music Stand

Artist: Gustave Serrurier-Bovy

Elegantly furnished music stand designed by Belgian architect and designer Serriurier-Bovy — who was foremost among a wave of artists and designers credited with first developing and creating the Art Nouveau style. The fluid curves and plantlike design comprised upon the stem of the stand tapers to a strong four-legged base, the lines delineating the shape of a flower upon which the polished walnut head rests. Height 50 1/2 inches. Provenance: Macklowe Gallery, New York, New York, 2005
